Throughout four deliberation sessions, Assembly Members decided to advance this idea to one of the final borough ballots for New Yorkers to vote on. The idea has been edited by Assembly Members and CEC staff to fit ballot character limits and remove all references to specific institutions and geographies. Here is the final idea title and description as it will appear on the ballot:
Seniors' Event: Assistance with Your Lease Renewal
- Idea Submission for The People's Money:
- Lease renewal events - gather city volunteers or social service workers to assist senior citizens to renew leases to their apartments (seeking out translators especially would be helpful).
- What is the problem your idea aims to address?
- There is a lack of assistance for certain issues senior citizens face in our city and if more funding was used to have researchers and staff to help run those programs these issues might be resolved.
