Throughout four deliberation sessions, Assembly Members decided to advance this idea to one of the final borough ballots for New Yorkers to vote on. The idea has been edited by Assembly Members and CEC staff to fit ballot character limits and remove all references to specific institutions and geographies. Community Choice Pantry Pop-Up

- A mobile, choice-based pantry that allows families to select their own groceries, fresh produce, hygiene supplies, and household essentials. This model reduces food waste, promotes dietary dignity, and brings high-quality resources directly into underserved neighborhoods through pop-up distribution events.

- Traditional food pantry models often limit choice, contributing to waste, embarrassment, and unmet dietary needs. Many families lack access to fresh, healthy food due to transportation barriers, long pantry lines, or limited hours. This program restores dignity, increases food access, and ensures families receive items they will actually use.
